Caribbean Culture Radio Program

                                                         Saturday's 5:00-8:00 p.m.

The Caribbean Culture radio program was debuted on WTCC-FM in June 1980 with Maurice Lindsay, executive producer and host. Maurice is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and the Telecommunication Technology program at Springfield Technical Community College. He created the program because in 1980, there was no form of Caribbean music being played anywhere in this area.  This Caribbean program was the first of its kind and today it remains the most popular Caribbean program in the region. We play the classic roots and dancehall reggae, soca, ska, calypso, merengue, reggaeton and African music.  Our format includes interviews, news and calendar events. Caribbean Culture has won many awards and acclaim for its promotion of Caribbean music and culture. We can be heard live every Saturday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on the web at

Over the years the Caribbean Culture program on WTCC has successfully participated in live simulcast links with other stations in Jamaica and Canada. These include Jamaica’s Hot 102 FM, Linkz 96 FM, Kool 97 FM Jamaica, and a three-way broadcast between Linz 96 FM in Jamaica, WTCC, and CHRY 105.5 FM in Toronto, Canada, sharing music and allowing listeners to phone in shared greetings between Jamaica, Canada and USA. We also do live remote broadcasts from many area reggae concerts and Caribbean Festival venues.

Over the years Caribbean Culture has become vital training ground for many DJs who have co-hosted the Caribbean Culture program and then eventually moved on to produce and host their own programs on WTCC. Today, Maurice continues to lead a team of associates referred to as the Caribbean Culture crew. They are; Lesley Melville a/k/a DJ Artman, Edward Mayers, a/k/a DJ Ed Jones, Myrtho Lambert a/k/a DJ Mikey Don, DJ Tony T and Lisa Ladis, a/k/a DJ Lisa-L.
